Moroccan State Railway E 1100
Morocco 1977 22 produced
The E 1100 was the first Japanese electric locomotive built for Morocco. After the ONCF had used French locomotives and the E 1000 built in Poland had not been a success, the E 1100 was ordered from Hitachi. It had two three-axle bogies, an output of 2,850 kW and tap changer control. The main task of the 22 locomotives were phosphate trains with up to 4,800 tonnes. Later the ONCF also ordered the E 1200 and E 1250 from Hitachi. The first ones were withdrawn in the late 2010s due to wear and tear.
