Deutsche Werke Kiel 110 B

The DWK 110 B was a two-axle, 110-hp shunter developed for industrial and private railways. It was an updated variant of the D100 and was, like this, driven through chains. In the DWK program of the late thirties, it was the smallest locomotive. 30 were built between 1938 and 1941. In service with the East German Reichsbahn, they received the designation “Kö”, what stood for light locomotives with diesel engines. Over the years, some were rebuilt to hydraulic transmission and now designated “Köf”. Some remained in service until the early nineties, like the Kö 5049 of the Mecklenburgische Friedrich-Wilhelm-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft. It is still in working order and can be seen at the Gramzow Railway Museum.
