Lima-Hamilton A-3177 / LT-2500

The A-3177, also called LT-2500, was a 2,500-hp transfer locomotive built by Lima-Hamilton in 1950 and 1951. It was the last model delivered from this company before the merger with Baldwin. The cab was mounted centrally between two turbocharged eight-cylinder 1,250hp Hamilton T89SA engines. The PRR was the only customer and ordered 22. These became class LS25m and were numbered 8943 to 8951 and 5671 to 5683. 5683 was delivered as the last one on September 12, 1951, less than three years after the first Lima-Hamilton diesel locomotive. The last three were retired in 1967.
