Siemens Mobility Desiro MainLine (Belgium)

The Belgian State Railways use the Desiro ML as three-car sets which are being designated AM 08 in French or MR 08 in Dutch. In 2008, they ordered 305 sets of which 210 are equipped for 3 kV DC and 95 which can also run under 25 kV AC. The AC capability is being needed for service on high speed lines like the HSL 4, while commuter networks like the Brussels S Train are electrified with DC. Only 105 were built by Siemens in Germany and the other 200 by Bombardier in Belgium.
