Henschel DHG 240 B

The DHG 240 B was a two-axle shunter built 34 times between 1964 and 1971. Its origins can be traced back to the Esslingen Machine Factory, whose diesel locomotive program had been taken over by Henschel in 1961. It had a Voith hydraulic transmission and the “G” in the type designation stood for “Gelenkwelle” (cardan shaft). Most were sold to German and Swiss customers in the chemical industry and refineries. Some got explosion protection and some got remote control. Today many are still in commercial operation and two are being preserved as historic locomotives.
