In 1866 and 1867, James Pearson built two 0-6-0 saddle tank locomotives for shunting on the Bristol & Exeter Railway. They carried the numbers 75 and 76, with 75 having a 950 gallon water tank and 76 with 1,200 gallons. Built for the broad gauge, they had a somewhat uncommon appearance with a long wheelbase and small driving wheels with only three and a half feet. When the B&ER became part of the GWR in 1876, they became numbers 2092 and 2093. They were withdrawn in 1888 and 1890.
In 1874 and 1875, two other 0-6-0ST locomotives were built for the Culm Valley Light Railway which were numbered 114 and 115. 114 became GWR 1376 and was withdrawn in 1934. 115 became 1377 and was already withdrawn in 1927.
