Malaysia 2005 20 produced
KTM bought 20 of these freight locomotives from CNR in China in 2005. They had a diesel engine from MAN and three-phase AC traction motors from Toshiba. In 2008, the very low level of reliability meant that at times three quarters of the locomotives were out of service and replacements had to be leased from India. Only an overhaul of most of the locomotives solved this problem. Today they are even used in front of local trains, although they were actually only intended for freight trains.
