Belgium 1999 96 produced
To replace the postwar diesel railcars and loco-hauled trains on lines which were not electrified yet, the Belgian State Railway decided to order modern diesel railcars in the nineties. The order was placed with Alstom for 80 two-car sets, of which the first were built in 1999. A second order for 16 brought the total number to 96. Each car is being powered by a 650 hp Cummins QSK19 that transmits its power via a hydraulic Voith transmission to both axles of the inner bogie. With a top speed of 120 km/h, they are mainly being used for InterCity and InterRegio services, but also for commuter services.
