British Mannesmann Tube Co. “Siemens”
Great Britain 1908
This locomotive was the first and most likely only example in Britan with a Brotan boiler. This type of boiler was developed in Austria and featured a firebox with walls made of water tubes and a steam collecting drum at the top. It was ordered by the British Mannesman Tube Company and used their design of seamless tubes. Construction took place at Beyer, Peacock & Co. in 1908. The locomotive had only two axles with drivers of three feet and one inch. Its cylinders measured 14 inches in diameter and 20 inches of stroke. The valve gear was of the Walschaerts type.
