Virginian class PA

In 1920, ALCO-Richmond built six Pacifics for the Virginian which were designated class PA and numbered 210 to 215. For passenger service on mountainous lines, they had drivers of only 69 inches. Their cylinders measured 26 by 28 inches and the boiler pressure was originally 190 psi. Other features were a Duplex stoker and two cross-compound air pumps under the left running board which can be seen on the photo. Later the boiler pressure was increased to 200 psi. Their retirement came in the mid-fifties.
