Ozette Timber Co. No. 10 and Shay 3-PC-13

The Shay later known as Ozette Timber Co. No. 10 was a member of the special “Pacific Coast” model introduced by Lima in 1927. This had been designed as an answer for the Shays produced by Willamette of Portland, Oregon, which incorporated some modern features not to be found in regular Shays. So Lima introduced their even more modern type with girder frames, cast trucks, steel cabs and more. In the result, Lima could sell 27 of its „Pacific Coast” model.

Ozette No. 10 left the shops on April 28, 1930 with works number 3348 and was delivered to Hofius Steel & Equipment Co. at Seattle, Washington. Although it was destined for Canada, the original customer did not take it over and it stayed in Seattle until it was bought by the Ozette Lumber Co. in 1941. After operating only four years around Lake Ozette, it came to Rayonier Inc. and was transferred to Sekiu. There it was retired in 1959 and came to Tillicum Park in Forks, where it is on display until today. So it spent all of its working life on the North West of Olympic National Park.
