The ТУ8П (TU8P) is a motorized draisine used to convey maintenance personnel across narrow and broad gauge lines. It was basically developed as a combination of the narrow gauge ТУ6П (TU6P) draisine with a huge passenger compartment and the more powerful ТУ8Г (TU8G) locomotive. With only one cab and a weight of 16 tonnes, changing the direction is being accomplished with an integrated lifting jack. Around 115 were built with three different gauges. 750 mm was used on narrow gauge lines on the Russian mainland, 1,067 mm on the island of Sakhalin and 1,520 mm on the main Russian network.
