The РА2 (RA2 in latin script) is a type of diesel multiple unit built for regions with difficult climatic conditions. Each set consists of two to four cars, with the outer two cars being powered by an MTU power pack. These include a 475hp diesel engine, a hydro mechanical Voith transmission and auxiliaries. Between the powered cars, there are none to two trailer cars. The most common variant has one trailer, and they can also run in multiple. 119 sets were built by the Mytishchi wagon factory between 2005 and 2014. Most have corrugated side walls and roofs, while others have flat sheet metal.
