The BB 9300 was an electric locomotive for passenger and express service under 1,500 V DC. It was directly based on the BB 9200, had the same power of 3,850 kW and the same top speed of 160 km/h. It can be distinguished from the BB 9200 by its one-arm pantographs instead of diamond-shaped ones and by the longer louvres.
At the beginning, they were used in express service in the South-East and also hauled the TEE. With the introduction of more powerful express locomotives, they were increasingly used on regional passenger service. From the eighties, they operated between Paris and the South-West. In the 21st century, they were replaced by multiple units and quickly withdrawn, so that the last ones were gone by 2014.
