FC Meijía á Arequipá No. 21 “Urubamba” and No. 22 “Carabaya”
Peru 1871 2 produced
These two small tank locomotives were built for the Peruvian FCMyA by Rogers in 1871. Although they were standard gauge their drivers were very small with a diameter of 30.25 inches. Their cylinders measured 11 by 18 inches. Water was carried in tanks on both sides of the boiler, while wood was stored behind the cab, above the trailing truck. They later came to the Ferrocarril del Sur where they still carried the numbers 21 and 22.
There is a later photo of 22 when it had been rebuilt into a 4-4-2T with taller wheels. On this photo it has a thinner stack that implies that it has also been converted to burn coal.
