When they electrified the 115 km narrow gauge line between Bilbao and Donostia, the Compañía de Ferrocarriles Vascongados ordered ten electric locomotives from BBC. Their mechanical part was built by Haine-Saint-Pierre. When they were delivered in 1928, they received the numbers 1 to 10. They were named after mountains which were situated along the line, like the “Ganguren” shown in the photo. Each locomotive had two two-axle bogies with nose-suspended traction motors which had an output of 190 kW each. The axle load was eleven tonnes and the top speed was 70 km/h. In 1972, the FV was taken over by the Ferrocarriles de Vía Estrecha (FEVE), where they were numbered 4001 to 4010. They were withdrawn from regular service in 1989, although three were used for tourist trains until 1999. A total of five have been preserved.
