The SNCF's largest order to date were the “Autorail à grande capacité” multiple units. The goal was to replace the previously locomotive-hauled TER trains in regional traffic. They are offered for diesel and electric traction, with the X 76500 being offered as diesel-electric variant. It is being built as three- or four-car unit with Jacobs bogies. Each unit is being powered by two 662 kW (900 hp) MAN engines with electric transmission. Between 2004 and 2010, 124 three-car and 39 four-car units were delivered to SNCF. Due to their designation starting with X, they are also being called “XGC” instead of “AGC”.
