The E 43000 is a class of 45 electric locomotives designed by Toshiba and built from 1987 by Tülomsaş in Turkey. Each locomotive stands on three two-axle bogies and was intended for freight service with a top speed of 90 km/h. They have two types of pantographs due to different catenary layouts in different parts of Turkey. Due to a shortage in electric express locomotives, some were rebuilt to a top speed of 120 km/h. Sometimes even the slower original variant is being used in passenger service.
