The M 242.0 was a type of two-axle diesel railcars built by ČKD for both main and branch lines. They were based on the M 222.0 and their bodies measured around 13 metres. Power came from an eight-cylinder boxer diesel that delivered between 130 and 200 hp depending on the production batch. 67 of the 68 vehicles had electric power transmission on both axles. Here, too, two different types of control equipment were used which were either called ČKD-RM or ČKD-RV. Only No. 26 had hydraulic power transmission on one axle. After World War II, the number of vehicles in class M 242.0 had already shrunken. In the following years the rest was replaced by the M 131.1 so that in 1958 the last one was retired.
