After ten goods locomotives with a 2-4-0 wheel arrangement, the Hull & Barnsley procured 20 freight locomotives with a 0-6-0 wheel arrangement in 1885. Both classes had in common that they used the same boiler. Like the passenger locomotives, these goods locomotives were modernized in 1906 under Stirling. They received the same boiler with a superheater. The diameter of the cylinder was increased by half an inch to 17 1/2 inches.
