Between 1868 and 1872, Wiener Neustadt built 32 2-4-0 express locomotives for the KFJB. Only the first one received a name, “Johann Adolph”. They had drivers of 1,574 mm and a boiler with a grate area of 1.78 square meters. The cylinders measured 408 by 632 mm. 22 slightly heavier locomotives were built in 1873. Ten of these came from Wiener Neustadt and twelve from Floridsdorf. In 1884, the KFJB was nationalized and the kkStB took over all locomotives. All received new boilers between 1886 and 1895.
From 1904, the first 32 locomotives became class 24 and the 22 newer ones became class 26. 19 of the first variant and twelve of the later variant were withdrawn before World War I. During the war, one came to the Soviet Union and another one had to assist on the Vienna Stadtbahn. After the war, seven came to the BBÖ and two were originally intended for service in Poland. Ultimately, around 20 were taken over by the ČSD. With the new system from 1925, the surviving locomotives of the older variant became class 233.0 and the newer ones became class 233.1. The last ones were withdrawn in 1927.
